There is no other place like San Francisco! And right now I'm really missing it.... I think it's because today was all foggy and gloomy lookin', just the way I like it! And it reminded me of why I loved the city so much... But there were far more reasons why I loved it, besides the weather... I grew up there, not from birth but its where I grew up to be the woman I am now. I spent 5 of the most significant years of my life in San Francisco. And I wouldn't trade them for the world!!! I made horrible mistakes there and I made the greatest choices of my life... I had my eyes opened to fresh perspectives and I met my best friend who has impacted my life in ways I could never fully express to her. I can't count how many times I cried nor how many times I laughed so hard I trickled in my pants!! Hollister is my hometown and all, but San Francisco is where I'm really from....
I miss the over-priced cable cars
I miss Powell Street the week before Christmas
I miss the Nike Marathon runners
I miss the irate taxi drivers
I miss the suits and their Financial District
I miss the the workout I used to get just by walking home...uphill!
I miss "The Goblin" coming into Starbucks, singing his tune and ordering his lemon scones!
I miss the smell of the ocean.... and the smell of clam chowder at the pier!
I miss the one-legged pigeons
I miss Teaz Me and Toms Cookies
I miss the guy who used to bug the crap outa me by hiding behind a bush and scaring all the tourists!
I MISS THE SHOPPING
I miss Halloween at Castro
I miss the protests
I miss my muni experiences.... and being on the muni ALWAYS became an "experience!"
I miss the Powell Street Borders
I miss Nordstrom's second floor bathrooms
I miss Pearls
And mostly I really miss the noisy city streets that would lull me to sleep at night... if only I could hear just a single fire truck now, I would sleep like a baby!
I'm excited to move to Boston this summer, another big city! And I'm sure Boston is gonna have its own little characteristics that we'll fall for... But it could never have my heart.... I left that in San Francisco! :)

I've totally been missing some of these things, too, especially the cable car and the FiDi and my twice weekly walk to Japantown. I will *not* miss the marathoners.
I thought I was the only one that noticed the one-legged pigeons! I thought this one bird was stalking me because I would see it everywhere, balanced just so.
Boston is an amazing city. I went on a lot of day trips there and it as so much to offer while being extremely comfortable and laid back. I think you'll like it. ^_^
