Seabass the Ninja fighting fish that never dies!!!

So a few months I was given a fish as a gift. Mind you, I've never liked fish unless they're smoked and wrapped in rice! But this little red fish was in a vase swimming around all slimy looking and making its weird fishy faces. Against my wishes, Jared and I took him home anyway.  Having the big heart that  he does, jared immediately fell in love with him. So we gave him a name (Seabass) and bought him a bowl and some pretty rocks to decorate his new home with. Every night Jared would say goodnight to Seabass and kiss his bowl. Yeah, I said it... he'd KISS the bowl. Of course I would just laugh. I mean, who talks to a fish, right? But as the days went by I actually caught myself greeting the little thing every time I'd walk into the room. Now I have to admit that I actually care for this fish. He's pretty cool!!

But the past couple of days have been pretty stressful for him! First off, jared broke our heater (I'll save that story for another blog) so the apartment was FREEZING!! Seriously, i was having to wear a coat and my gloves just to lounge around the living room... Anyway, one evening we notice that Seabass wasn't swimming around in his usual manner. Instead he was very still at the bottom of the bowl against some rocks. When we touched the bowl it was ice cold! And that's pretty horrible considering Seabass is a tropical fish... So the next day Jared decided to help Seabass out by warming the bowl. He heats up water in a big pot and lowers the cold bowl into the hot water. Can you guess what happened next?? Yup, the bowl cracked and the bottom completely broke off, spewing poor Seabass into the boiling hot water!! The fish starts swimming rapidly in circles as it cooks in the pot, Jared starts screaming as if the world is about to end, and I have no idea what the heck is going on 'cause I'm in the bathroom. So Jared grabs the fish out of the water (still screaming) and it slips out of his hands and onto our kitchen floor! By the time I come running into the room Jared has finally gotten Seabass into his old vase and filled it with water of appropriate temperature!

Needless to say the poor fish survived, we got our heater fixed, and Seabass is now happily swimming in his original vase home. And as much as I didn't like him to begin with. we are both really happy he didn't die! Our apartment truly wouldn't be the same without him.

So Seabass, if you're listening... I hope you can forgive us for almost freezing you to death, destroying your new home, burning you, manhandling you, and dropping you on the floor. We love you little guy!!!
